Federal Party of Manipur president, Dr L Chandramani today said the FPM will surely win absolute majority in the February hustings if no catastrophic changes occur in the political climate of the State in the run up to the polls.
Talking to newsmen this evening, Dr Chandramani said the Election Committee of the party held its first meeting today wherein it was decided that the FPM would nominate candidates in at least 50 of the 60 Assembly seats.
For the remaining 10 seats; FPM will adjust with NDA partners and either like minded political parties minus the Congress.
Though the party has more or less finalized the first phase candidate list, they are still unable to formally announce the candidate list due to technical difficulties as a number of Government employees have approached the party for tickets, informed Dr Chandramani.
Moreover there are still a few days left for the election notification.
However the FPM will be able to announce the full candidate list before January 10, he assured.
Chandramani further said that though the FPM has decided to contest in 50 Assembly constituencies, the party has received applications from 53 Assembly constituencies.
Sounding very confident, Chandramani said at least 26 political heavy weights are seeking the party's ticket while 18 ticket seekers gave a good fight to the ultimate winners in the last election.
FPM has also received applications from 9 fresh promising candidates.
Ticket allocation will not cause any problem to the party; he said adding that in 45/44 constituencies there are no tussles for the party's ticket.
The FPM president confidently predicted that the party will bag at least 22 seats in the valley constituencies and another 9 in the hill constituencies.
Party vice president and chairman of the political affairs of the party, Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that efforts are on to strike up pre-poll alliance with other like minded political parties.
He added that the party's election manifesto will soon be released.
